  • To think that you are just barely scratching the surface of flamenco... If you want a model of a pianist that truly understands flamenco, please look up Dorantes, he has true flamenco pedigree and is just an amazing artist with enough understanding to truly fuse jazz and flamenco.

  • Wow, thank you. And to Jeremy. I've been struggling with this also, my partner is Spanish, so everytime I go, I'm drawn to the culture, history and the super complex manifestations of the Music. And with my Western understanding of the '1', how sometimes they start on the '12' , I really do need that glass of Rioja to even begin to start to begin learning. Brilliant, thanks.

I think it cannot fit any more perfectly with your theme in this context. Can be a good way to refresh all this knowledge. Your content is amazing and I love how respectful you are while working on something foreign for you. Lots of love from Andalucía, Spain!

  • Great learning and at a very smart, efficient speed... Congratulations! Try to enter the fuel quality besides the engine design to get to the next integrated level where the IMMEDIATE IMPACT OF FLAMENCO music also expresses so much human yearning, longing, frustration even that one could pick up naturally in flamenco combinations and solos....where all these impossible sophistication [ cross cultural historically ?!?] in rhythms and other techniques( I was told..7, 9 etc too ) could make sense... keep up the great explorations !

  • There is a generalized flaw, flamenco does not come from the greek phrygian mode, but from the doric mode. The main greek modes are : doric, phrygian, lydian and miso- lydian; all tetracordos and descending, but the doric mode has among the notes, tones and semi-tones, like flamenco. Un the middle age, un the gregoriana era, the original mames are changes to : protus, deuterus, tritus, and tetrardus; but later they retiran to the original denominaciones, but un a disorderly way, and the doric mode happens to be mistakenly calles, phrygian mode. Greetings from Andalusia - Spain.
